In June 2015, Dumfries and Galloway Council resilience team hosted an event in partnership with Moffat Academy to increase the resilience of the community. Children from the school as well as parents, teachers and members of the community turned out and took part in exercises that would increase their resilience in a range of challenging situations. There were demonstrations from the local Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Mountain Rescue, Police Scotland as well as NHS Dumfries and Galloway. This could also be a way for schools to engage with the Developing the Young Workforce agenda as it gives an employer an opportunity to engage with a school as well as giving children and young people an opportunity to find out about skills needed for different occupations.
